Solution :

Key : 1 plate = 3 plate lunches.

Number of plates in Gomez = 6

Number of plates in Cohen = 9

Difference = 9 - 6

= 3

= 3(3)

= 9 plates

The graph shows the number of students who were absent from Houstan Elementary on Friday.

What is the difference between the total number of students in grade 3 and grade 4 and the total number of students absent in grade 1 ?

Solution :

Key : Each face will represent 2.

Total number of students in grade 3 and grade 4 :

= 4 + 5.5

= 9.5

Total number of students in grade 1 = 8.5

Difference between them = 9.5 - 8.5

= 1

1 face = 2 students

Option c is correct.

The graph shows the cost of school supplies at the school store.

How many cents less does notebook paper cost than a box of markers ?

Solution :

Number of notebook paper = 8

Cost of notebook paper = 8(0.10)

= 0.80 

Number box of markers = 13

Number box of markers = 13(0.10)

= 1.3

Difference between two costs = 1.3 - 0.80

= 0.5

50 cents is the difference.

Tamika's class collected cans for the food drive. The class made a graph of the number of cans they collected each week.

How many cans were collected during week 1 and week 2 ?

Solution :

Key : Each can will be equal to 10 cans

Number of cans collected in week 1 = 7 (10) ==> 70

Number of cans collected in week 2 = 5(10) ==> 50

Total number of cans collected = (7 + 5) (10)

= 12(10)

= 120

Solution :

Number of contestants practiced 3 times = 8

= 8 (3)

= 24

Number of contestants practiced 4 times = 9

= 9 (3)

= 27

Number of contestants practiced 5 times = 4

= 4 (3)

= 12

Number of contestants practiced 7 times = 6

= 6 (3)

= 18

Number of contestants practiced 8 times = 12

= 12 (3)

= 36

So, option c is not supported the given pictograph.
