Problem 10 :

Rajive bought pencils for Rs 150, As the were of bad quality, he had to sell them for Rs 127, Find his loss or gain ?

Solutions

1. Answer

12% of 60 :

= 12100 × 60

= 0.12 × 60

= 7.2

18% of 90 :

= 18100 × 90

= 0.18 × 90

= 16.2

7.2 < 16.2

Hence, 12% of 60 is lesser than 18% of 90.

2. Answer

a)

Given, CP = Rs 4100

P = Rs 300

SP = ?

Selling price = Cost price + Profit

= 4100 + 300

Selling price = 4400

b)

Given, Selling price = 4900

Loss = 490

Loss = Cost price - Selling price

490 = Cost price - 4900

Cost price = 490 + 4900

Cost price = 5390

3. Answer

a)

Given, P = Rs 6000

SI = Rs 250

Amount = Principal + Simple interest

= 6000 + 250

Amount  = 6250

b)

SI = 500

A = 4900

Amount = Principal + Simple interest

4900 = Principal + 500

Principal = 4900 - 500

Principal = 4400

4. Answer

a)

Given, Total = 300

Average = 30

No.of item = TotalAverage= 30030

No. of item = 10

b)

Given, No. of item = 21

Average = 21

No.of item = TotalAverage21= Total21

Total = 21 × 21

Total = 441

5. Answer

Given, r = 6.5 cm

To find diameter of a circle :

Diameter (d) = 2r

= 2(6.5)

Diameter (d) = 13 cm

6. Answer

a)

Given, Time = 3 years

I = Rs. 600

R = 4% p.a

S.I = P × R × T100600 = P × 4 × 3100600 = P × 325P = 600 × 253

P = 200 × 25

P = 5000

b)

Given, P = Rs 2100

I = Rs 350

T = 2 years

S.I = P × R × T100350 = 2100 × R × 2100350 = 4200 × R100R = 350 × 1004200R = 350004200

R = 8.33 % p.a

144 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3 × 3

180 = 2 × 2 × 5 × 3 × 3

192 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3

Common prime factors are 2 × 2 × 3.

HCF of 144, 180 and 192 is 12.

8. Answer

Total number of people = 75

People standing = 15

People seated = 75 - 15

= 60

Percentage of people seated = 60/75 ×100

= 80%

9. Answer

a) Borrowed amount = Rs. 6000

Time = 7 years

Interest = 900

S.I = (P × R × T)/100

Where, S.I = Simple Interest

P = Principal

T = Time

R = S.I × 100P × TR = 900 × 1006000 × 7= 3014R = 2.14 % p.a

b) Borrowed amount = Rs. 3200

Time = ?

Interest = 160

Rate = 2%

S.I = (P × R × T)/100

Where, S.I = Simple Interest

P = Principal

T = Time

R = S.I × 100P × T2 = 160 × 1003200 × TT = 160 × 1003200 × 2T =16000 6400T = 52

10. Answer

Rajive bought pencils for Rs 150.

Selling price = 127

Profit =  Cost price - Selling price

= 150 - 127

Profit = 23

So, profit is loss.
