Answers and Solutions

1. Solution :

Number of tickets sold,

Monday = 372 tickets

Tuesday = 406 tickets

Total number of tickets to be sold out = 880

Total number of tickets sold out on monday and tuesday :

= 372 + 406

= 778

Tickets are left to sell =  880 - 778

= 102

So, 102 tickets are left to sell.

2. Solution :

Maria has save the money in her piggy bank = $3.25

Amount she earns = $2.50

Amount she is spending = $2.10

Total money = amount from her saving + earning

= $3.25 + $2.50

= $5.75

money left over = total money - spend the money

= $5.75 - $2.10

= $3.65

So, she will have $3.65 as left over.

3. Solution :

Number of students = 640

Number of students in first grade = 116

Number of students in second grade = 208

Total students in 1st and 2nd grade = 116 + 208

= 324

students are not in the first or second grade =  640 - 324

= 316

So, 316 students are not in the first or second grade.

4. Solution :

Leon had 526 baseball cards.

Number of cards he gave to Billy = 110

Number of cards gave by Billy = 107

 = 526 + 107 - 110

= 523

So, Leon has 523 baseball cards.

5. Solution :

Number of eggs laid by chicken on Monday = 192 eggs

Number of eggs laid by chicken on Tuesday = 264 eggs

Total eggs = 192 + 264

= 456

So, the number of eggs laid by the chickens altogether is 456.

6. Solution :

Farmer Brown grows 465 pounds of corn.

Farmer Smith grows 298 pounds of corn.

Former Jones grows 319 pounds of corn.

Number of pounds of corn on that farmer brown grow than

farmer Jones = 465 - 319

= 146 corn

7.Solution :

Former Brown's has 320 fish in his pond.

Former Smith has 672 fish in his pond.

Farmer Jones has 458 fish in his pond.

Number of fishes Farmer Jones have than Farmer Smith

= 672 - 458

= 214

So, Farmer Jones have 214 fishes  lesser than Farmer Smith.

8. Solution :

Farmer Brown has 542 horses on his farm.

Brown horses = 126

New horses = 116

= 542 + 116 - 126

= 658 - 126

= 532

So, total number of horses 532.
